About Highland Rock Climbing

Our Story

Highland Rock Climbing is located next to Phutawan Resort on Railay East, Krabi, Thailand, right below the base of the climbing wall Diamond Cave. When coming from the beach, you will find us on the left-hand side about 30 meters after the National Park Office.

It is a very convenient location with lots of climbing just next to the shop, ranging from beginner to intermediate level (5a-6c). Highland Rock Climbing is more than a climbing school. Our shop is also a great place to hang out and enjoy watching people climb while sipping on a delicious drink from Sabai Coffee House, our own café.

Since 2008

Highland Rock Climbing was opened by the owner Chaowarit “Chao” Khongmak in 2008. He has more than 20 years of experience working as a climbing instructor in the area. He is a devoted instructor with a high level of service and safety, always making sure that everyone who come climbing with us have a fun and safe experience.

Chao is also a certified IRATA rope technician, occasionally doing advanced rope work around Europe.

Our guides are all English speaking and have many years of experience teaching people from all around the world. All guides are trained on a regular basis by Railay Rock Climbing Club. They will make sure that you have a fun and safe day climbing with us!
